Mindanao: Filipino-Muslim rebels vowed to raise the issue of a proposed homeland and self-rule accord at the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) and the United Nations (UN) after the Supreme Court said it was unconstitutional, a rebel negotiator said.
"There is no hope of addressing the problem of Muslims in the south. in the Philippines. We will bring the problem and its solution to a forum where we will be heard," said Mohagher Iqbal, chief negotiator for the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
"A renegotiation will be done only if we get a guarantee from the UN and the OIC that the Philippine government could be trusted to implement agreements reached during peace talks," said Iqbal.
