Manila: A small town in central Luzon captured the Guinness World Record this week for the holding of a 3,803.96 metre line of barbecued corn during a festivity last February, a local paper said.

Guinness will soon send the formal acknowledgement to Dea Que, the local government leader who documented the ambitious corn festival of St Tomas, Pangasinan.

During the town's corn festival, some 3,500 residents and organisers grilled 95,540 ears of corn on fabricated grills made of chicken wire and galvanised iron sheets.

The line of corn snaked through 10 villages. Residents and visitors ate the barbecued corn after the event.
