Islamabad: Authorities carried out investigations as the death toll in twin suicide blasts in Pakistan rose to 100 on Friday, police said.
At least 80 people were also wounded in the attacks on Thursday outside an ordnance factory in Pakistan.Two suicide bombers blew themselves up outside Pakistani military's main arms factory in Wah , police said.
Pakistan's Taliban claimed responsibility for the blasts, which they said were in response to recent military clashes in Pakistan's northwest region.
"It was because of what's happening in Bajaur," Taliban spokesman Maulvi Omar said by telephone.
"If it doesn't stop we will continue such attacks," he said.
A police officer Sardar Shahbaz at the scene outside the industrial complex in Wah, northwest of Islamabad, said the scene was disastrous.
"There were bodies lying everywhere and wounded people soaked in blood were screaming for help," a witness said.
"Many of the wounded were either without legs or hands. I could see body parts hanging on trees," he said.
Hundreds of workers were milling about outside the complex at the end of their shift when the bombers struck, another police officer said.
One blast occurred outside the factory's main gate, while the second went off at almost the same time near another gate, he said.
