Islamabad: The CIA agrees with the Pakistani government in saying that Al Qaida-linked militant leader Baitullah Mehsud was behind Benazir Bhutto's killing.
CIA Director Michael Hayden, in an interview with the Washington Post published on Friday, also blamed Mehsud for Bhutto's murder.
A spokesman for Mehsud, who earlier denied the commander was behind Bhutto's killing, was not immediately available for comment.
Bhutto was killed in a gun and bomb attack in Rawalpindi on December 27. Her assassination raised a fresh wave of violence in the country.
When she was alive, Bhutto had talked about getting death threats from Al Qaida. Her supporters blame the government for not doing enough to protect her.
