Yangon: The party of detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi urged Myanmar's ruling junta on Friday to ensure her well-being as she continued to refuse food deliveries to protest her detention.
The National League for Democracy "expressed concern" that Suu Kyi has not accepted food delivered to her home for almost three weeks, the party said in a statement.
It did not say whether she was on a hunger strike. The 63-year-old Nobel Peace Prize laureate has been held in detention for 13 years, mostly under house arrest.
Friday's statement called Suu Kyi's action a "protest against...her unlawful detention under the security law".
Suu Kyi also wants greater freedom of movement for two female companions who live with her and help take care of the house, the party said.
"Her safety and well-being are the soul responsibility of the authorities who have unlawfully detained her," it said.
