Washington: President George W. Bush urged Myanmar's junta on Tuesday to accept US disaster response teams that so far have been kept out of the country.
Bush said the United States stood ready to "do a lot more" to help after a devastating cyclone.
"Our message is to the military rulers: 'Let the United States come and help you, help the people,'" Bush told reporters at the White House.
Bush issued his appeal to Myanmar's military government, which is under heavy US sanctions, as the death toll from from Cyclone Nargis rose to nearly 22,500.
The US State Department said on Monday that disaster response experts were ready to go into Myanmar but that the junta had refused to let them in.
