Mumbai: In a never-ever-seen-before collaboration, Bollywood stars and western artistes will come together at a concert in Mumbai on December 7 to spread the message that India should help lead the world on climate change.
Live Earth, one of the largest global entertainment events held in July 2007 with simultaneous concerts across the world, has now announced a list of superstars to take part in the upcoming Live Earth India.
Joining Live Earth India spokesperson and actor Amitabh Bachchan and American rockstar Bon Jovi are the global list of celebrities that includes, former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters, American hip hop musician Will.i.am, who wrote the song Yes We Can in support of Barack Obama, sitarist and daughter of legendary Ravi Shankar, Anoushka Shankar, actors Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and a host of others.
Proceeds will go to projects including the Light a Billion Lives campaign of The Energy and Resource Institute (Teri), India, which aims to provide solar-powered lanterns to rural households. Live Earth India will also support Climate Project India's educational programme.
Appearances and messages from former US Vice President Al Gore and Teri director-general Rajendra K Pachauri, are expected.
