Star power
Will the reunited pair John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo be the answer to the Kapamilya network's primetime woes? That's the question many are asking after it was announced that the the long-time and usually bankable screen partners will be back in a new series, I Love Betty La Fea.

Their previous team-up, Maging Sino Ka Man Book 2, was nowhere near the top rater it was expected to be. Wags say the series was ended because it just wasn't clicking with viewers.

This time, however, many are hoping that the tandem will regain their lost luster given the material they have to work with.

I Love Betty La Fea was a big hit in several countries and their home studio has done a decent job of hyping the programme. A lot rests on these two stars' shoulders, but should they manage to pull it off, they will have proven their star power.

Extravangaza
All of the Philippines is gearing up for a fantastic musical event when Ogie Alcasid stages a concert with American Idol Season Eight finalist Ramiele Malubay and Pinoy Idol winner Gretchen Espina.

Billed as a Christmas concert special, the event will take place on December 20 and 21 at the Aliw Theatre. Showbiz Tsismis readers who will be in the Philippines for the festive season shouldn't miss this one. Dubbed Ogie Sings with the Idols, the concert will be Alcasid's second major event this year after his anniversary special on 27 September.

Alcasid's latest album, The Great Filipino Songbook, was awarded gold status recently, proving without a doubt that the prolific singer songwriter is one of the best and most popular in the industry. The versatile celebrity is also an actor and has a regular gag show called Bubble Gang on the Kapuso network.

Beundia in hospital
The Eraserheads reunion concert was cut short because lead singer Ely Beundia had to be rushed to the hospital for angioplasty. Beundia has had two bypass surgeries already, and this latest has caused many to worry about the future of this popular Pinoy pop-rock star. He allegedly collapsed backstage after the first set, and was unable to continue.

Tough luck for Gabby
Gabby Concepcion's comeback has not turned out to be what he expected. He is beset by lawsuits left, right and centre, while both his TV and concert comebacks have tanked. According to Concepcion's closest friends, the actor is contemplating returning to the US.
