Enter the fantastical world of Cirque du Soleil as it returns to Dubai with its hit show Alegria. The Spanish title, which means Joy and Jubiliation, promises to be a less intense and darker than their show Quidam, which was staged in Dubai last year.

But rest assured, all the elements that make Cirque du Soleil an electrifying performance remains intact with Alegria. To be held at the Ibn Battuta Mall from March 5 to April 5, the month-long carnival will feature gravity-defying stunts, aerial twists, tumbling through the air.

"While Quidam was more introverted and deeper, Alegria is a lighter show with fast-moving performances in the background. It tells a story of the change from the old guard to the new guard. The other big difference is the music soundtrack which is among the best," Milan Rokic, the vice-president of marketing for the Asia-Pacific region, said at a press conference held on Wednesday.

Alegria, which has been brought to life with the help of 55 acrobats, musicians, singers and clowns, has been staged in 65 cities across 17 countries.

"In these uncertain times, Alegria gives the opportunity to escape into a fantastical world. The Snow Act, in which the stage will be inundated with snow and the Mongolian contortonists who will mess up your mind, are some of the highlights," Rokic told tabloid! on the sidelines.

The details of the tickets for the show will be announced in early December, but you can pre-register your interest by logging on to www.cirquedusoleil.com
