A group of children suffering from arthritis and their families had an unforgettable experience at the Atlantis Hotel on The Palm Jumeirah.

During the visit, organised by the Emirates Arthritis Foundation (EAF), children swam with dolphins at Dolphin Bay, explored the mazes and underground tunnels of The Lost Chambers and had a pizza buffet at a restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Giorgio Locatelli.

The event is one of many organised by EAF throughout Ramadan to draw attention to World Arthritis Day, raise funds for their continued initiatives and to increase awareness of the problems faced by arthritis sufferers, both young and old.
Dr Cathy Leibman, director of the EAF, said: "This was a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience something really unique. One of the most important treatments in juvenile arthritis sufferers is swimming and exercise, which is not always easy when your joints are stiff and swollen.

"But swimming with dolphins was such fun for the group that they quickly put aside their discomfort and had an absolute ball."

The dolphins at Atlantis have their own dedicated facilities and an experienced team to ensure their health and well-being. The habitat at Dolphin Bay provides the dolphins with seven interconnected pools and almost 26 million litres of crystal-clear seawater.

The hotel will be open to the public from September 24.
