Children modelled top designer brands with attitude and style at Kids Fashion Week.
The biggest names in kids' fashion strutted their latest collections on the ramps at Dubai Festival City as part of the Dubai Summer Surprises this weekend.
Kids Fashion Week has young members of the Modhesh Friends Club modelling clothes from the latest collections of 12 international brands and two prominent Emirati designers, Hind Al Gazzal and Sumay Al Hamadi.
Brands on show include United Colours of Benetton, which is presenting its summer collection, Sisley, Kenzo Kids and Moschino, Blumarine, Miss Grant & GF, Jacadi, and Souris Mini.
The United Colours of Benetton's collection was described as being inspired by the childish freedom to wear, to interpret, to choose, to move about and to play.
The Moschino garments were referred to as classical, whimsical, and presenting unique styles usually filled with a dash of humour.
Diverse audience
Maitha Gobash, Supervisor for Kids Fashion Week said, "Some of the latest global trends in children's fashion will be showcased in Dubai during DSS 2008. Apart from being a sought after fashion destination in the Middle East, Kids Fashion Week aims to contribute to Dubai's ever-growing popularity as host to niche fashion events."
Ebrahim Saleh, general coordinator of Dubai Shopping Festival Office said, "DSS organises Kids Fashion Week as part of its commitment to cater to a diverse audience, apart from hosting a recognised fashion event that has set high standards for itself."
In its sixth year, the participation of some of the biggest names in children's fashion during the event is a testament to the popularity of the event, he said.
"Children's wear is a major industry in the world today and while the brands featured this year showcase diversified collections, Kids Fashion Week provides an ideal platform for these labels and designers to target niche audiences," he added.
Modhesh happy snaps
With 30 different zones and 32,000 square metres of fun to explore, Modhesh Fun City (MFC) is a treasure trove of memorable moments. Though most visitors carry their own cameras Modhesh Studio is offering to capture those moments for free.
Whether it is a shot of your little one hugging Modhesh or of your teen at the billiards table or of you on the rodeo ride it can all be captured, framed and presented in a way as special as the place itself.
Organised by Digiphoto, the studio is located at the west end of the Centre hall at MFC. Roaming photographers weave through the guests offering to take family pictures as they enjoy the activities on offer.
Sports at Modhesh fun city
Children are able to participate in a variety of sports activities and games under the comfort of air-conditioned surroundings at Modhesh Fun City (MFC) during the DSS 2008.
Organisers say the vast expanse of MFC makes it possible to include a mini-tennis court, a fairly big soccer area, an archery zone and a designated area for karate, in addition to indoor games such as chess.
MFC is open between 10am and 10pm from Saturday to Wednesday, from 10am to midnight on Thursday, and from 3pm to midnight on Fridays. Tickets are priced at Dh20, which also includes free games and rides.
