The Ahmad Bin Rashid Port and Free Zone provides excellent facilities and services for the running of a successful business venture.

Free zones are all about vision and the Ahmad Bin Rashid Port and Free Zone is no different. Part of the vision of the Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, the free zones are connected to other Gulf countries by modern highways and to Europe via sea ports and airports, including nearby Dubai International Airport and Sharjah International Airport.

As a hub for the region's business, it offers 100 per cent foreign ownership and 100 per cent repatriation of capital and income, with a competitive fee structure and access to the latest technology, communications, banking and financial facilities. It also offers full back-up facilities for materials storage.

The government has accomplished in this free zone since 1988, setting up facilities and services, accommodation and providing logistical and support services to all tenants. But as part of the UAE, famous for unprecedented levels of growth and accomplishing what some may think is impossible, the free zone is continuing on its expansion track.

"We are looking at different types of manufacturing units," says Murtaza K.Moosajee, General Manager of the free zone. "The zone is already looking at expanding the present facilities to offer more services to businesses, guiding them to setting up their units and giving them logistics support."

Along with expansion, efficiency is a hallmark of both the country and this free zone. The government makes it easy to do business here, starting from the application, right through to the set-up and operation.

"The application process depends on the type and requirement of the investor," says Moosajee. "Once the detailed process is handed over to the zone a licence can be issued within a week," he says.

The free zone's mission to "provide the best possible business environment for companies" is in keeping with its vision of the future, in which its investor-friendly approach ensures a safe, secure, trouble-free and prosperous business environment in which progressive companies can thrive.
