Hamriyah Free Zone is strategically located with quick access to three seaports, proximity to an airport and an excellent road network.

The Hamriyah Free Zone is strategically located with access to three seaports on the Arabian Gulf and Indian Ocean. It also has access to Sharjah International Airport, the largest sea-air transit cargo hub in the Middle East.

History

The Hamriyah Free Zone was established by an Emiri Decree on November 12, 1995. Since the decree was issued, no effort has been spared in fast-tracking the development of the Free Zone to serve as a cornerstone in Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates industrial development strategy.

The Hamriyah Free Zone Authority (HFZA) manages the Free Zone, which comprises approximately 10 million square metres of industrial and commercial land. Included in the Free Zone area is a 14 metre-deep seaport, designed to incorporate dedicated petrochemical bulk handling and general cargo berths.

Details

As a next generation free zone, the Hamriyah Free Zone's mission is to provide incentives that exceed those of its competitors and which meet the needs of firms competing for market penetration in the new millennium.

Taking up this challenge, Hamriyah Free Zone has sought to both match the standard terms offered by competitor free zones and to exceed them.

Typical activities that will benefit from being in the free zone include manufacture, assembly, processing, storage, distribution, general trading, packaging and consolidation.
Hamriyah Free Zone has signed several contracts over the last 12 months with capital commitments of approximately $350 million (about Dh1.28 billion).

These projects include oil refining, bulk grain storage, oil blending, soya bean crushing facility, flour mill, printing ink blending, furniture assembly and restoration, electronics and computer components, clothing recycling, satellite TV systems assembly and distribution, trading and many more.
Sharjah is playing an important role as the pre-eminent industrial base of the UAE, with its unique strategic location between three continents, serving a growing market of 1.5 billion people. Sharjah is the only one of the seven emirates with ports on the Arabian Gulf's west coast and east coast with direct access to the Indian Ocean, and an international airport, which connects to 230 cities. It also has a well-developed infrastructure.
