There's one thing you need to know in order to make the best of and, in fact, enjoy the year of 2008, Taurus. And that is the year's theme, which is 'broadening your horizons'.
Once you understand that things aren't meant to stay the same, but that change is the order of the day — and the year — then instead of worrying about dealing with the year's numerous changes, you'll recognise them as progress.
You'll make whatever alterations are necessary and, rather than struggle with unexpected developments, you'll find creative ways to adjust to them. You'll view whatever you do as but one stage, in both your personal growth and in the process of learning, that is what the phrase 'broadening your horizons' is all about.
As a Taurus, your primary objective is to create a life that's both happy and settled. You work hard to do this, and once you've things organised the way you want them, you tend to avoid changes. Yet, during the year of 2008 change will appear, and on a regular basis.
And, while what arises will often be disruptive, the developments that come your way will also be exciting. That's because with the practical Saturn accenting elements of your life that you most enjoy, some of those changes will focus on making improvements in everything from your love life to your relations with close friends and children, to the activities you adore. That alone will be rewarding.
But with Jupiter bringing its expansive influence to the mix, new ideas, surprise encounters and intriguing developments could all add something new to this process. You could hear about one thing from friends, another from family and yet another could come from out of the blue.
Obviously, this will all be exciting. But it could also be somewhat worrying, simply because you'll feel that if you're to take advantage of what comes your way, you'll need to concentrate on one, or at the most, two new activities, eliminating the others. But as you'll soon realise because each month and, in fact, often each week brings something new, this is no time to narrow your focus.
What's more, with the energetic Mars, focusing on balancing new ideas and practicalities during much of the first half of the year, you'll learn more from what you do than from planning or analysis.
Consequently, it will be important to try things out, to take chances — and then learn from events as they unfold. What proves to be best in the long run could be what you'd anticipated the least from.
Eclipses always introduce something new and unexpected. They'll throw existing circumstances into upheaval. Even more important, as you deal with that upheaval, you'll find that you're forced to look at things from a different perspective. And it's that which leads to growth, both personally and in terms of the actual situation in question.
And because this year's eclipses, which take place in February and August, accent the structure of your life, your domestic set up and your activities out in the world, changes could begin with others, with those you live or work with or see regularly.
Their lives change and, as a result, yours does. Or there'll be alterations in your existing arrangements, and those will lead to an entirely new approach to areas of your life you thought would always remain the same.
Perhaps the most important shift for you during 2008, however, is the move by Pluto, the planet of truth and transformation, from the part of your chart that has to do with life's practicalities and joint ventures into the most expansive angle of your chart.
Pluto begins this process of change in January, moving to accent new ideas and ways you could broaden your horizons and remaining there until mid-June. During this period circumstances encourage you to explore new activities, perhaps to go to new locations or even study something that intrigues you.
Then, during the second half of the year, Pluto returns to accent practical and financial matters in general and joint ventures in particular, and you'll spend time considering whether what you've been introduced to can fit into your life in practical terms.
The odds are good that what you've encountered will be so exciting that you'll work hard to find ways to integrate these activities or ventures into your life.
You'll work so hard, in fact, that as the year comes to a close and, on December 28, the courageous Mars actually meets Pluto, with both positioned in the most expansive angle of your chart, not only will you have found a way to pursue these exciting ideas, ventures, studies or travels, the arrangements you make may well begin as the year of 2009 commences.
