One of your strengths as a Sagittarius, is your wide ranging interest in life and the people you know and those you meet, and your endless inquisitiveness. Of the 12 signs, you're perhaps most interested in and intrigued by the world around you.

This means that you'll be the first to explore something new and that when developments arise, because of your previous explorations, you'll already know a great deal about the situation involved, the people concerned and, therefore, will be able to assess what's going on and what's worth pursuing.

However, this fascination with the world around you and this constantly shifting focus can mean that while, you'll set out on one plan, you'll often get distracted and end up pursuing another. For this reason the presence of the planet, Saturn, in the crucial midheaven angle of your chart, where it moved in September 2007 and remains until 2010, may at first seem restrictive.

This suggests either that you'll engage in certain activities that force you to focus — and focus in an unwavering manner — on certain objectives, or that some set of circumstances arise that corner you into dealing with something in this uncharacteristically focused manner.

Whatever the case, and it could be one thing during one period of the year and another at another time, you'll find that as you begin to view life with this new intensity, your perspective changes, and as it changes, you'll begin to set new goals.

Some of these new goals will emerge from what might be termed the 'muscle' that develops as you begin to focus more. Similarly, with the expansive Jupiter accenting practical matters in general, and your resources, such as your time and your money, in particular, you'll also be thinking about what you get from what you do.

Again, as a Sagittarius, simply acquiring more money or assents is rarely the first thing on your mind. Yet, because there'll be a powerful planetary emphasis on this, not only will you need to think about exactly such matters, you'll also find that, as you pay attention to them, you'll benefit enormously from certain arrangements.

In some cases these benefits will be solely because of your own efforts. In others, it will be because you've either worked closely with others, or talked things over with those around you and have — together — organised arrangements in such a way that they benefit everybody.

Some of these changes will influence the structure of your life, and you could find that sudden developments mean you must reorganise certain things that are familiar, so familiar that either you've simply accepted them as being stable or you thought that they would, quite simply, never change.

While there may be talk of reorganisation of this nature during the year, it's unlikely to be until late in the year, when you are clear exactly the nature or degree of those changes, that things actually begin to take form. In the meanwhile you begin to consider various options, some a surprise to you and to others, but should keep any plans loose.

Perhaps the most important influence during this year for you, however, will be the departure of the planet of truth, of focus and transformation, Pluto, from your sign, where it's been since 1995. If you look back on this period, you'll realise that you've learned a great deal.

A combination of events and your own initiative has opened up your world. Consequently, you're now looking at life and, more importantly, yourself from a very different perspective.

In late January Pluto makes a temporary departure from Sagittarius, returning in June, until just the end of the year. What you learn and experience during the year's first half will, on one hand, mark the beginning of a new cycle. But it will also be helpful in terms of understanding the past, simply because the events it triggers will make you realise just how much you've learned over the past decade or so, while Pluto was in your sign.

But also, because Pluto joins your ruler, Jupiter, in accenting your practical life, finances and the use of your resources, as well as the respect you're given for what you do, you'll find that, first, you're concentrating more on the practical side of things.

And, second, you'll have more interest in — and an instinct for — influencing arrangements so that you either get what you have coming, which has somehow been denied you, or you'll have the understanding, and persistence, to organise things so you get what you deserve, what you've earned.

This alone will excite you. But as you move into the second half of the year and prepare for perhaps the most important planetary event from your perspective, which is the meeting between the courageous Mars and Pluto, at the end of December, on the 28th, you'll be able to make decisions based on the year's explorations and experiences.

You'll realise that not only is this a year of growth, but it's a year during which everything you learn will, in some way, add to the knowledge that's necessary when you make late December's life-changing decisions.
