Dubai: Al Nasr volleyball team achieved great success in the Asian clubs volleyball championships at Almaty Kazakhstan, by qualifying to the semifinals after defeating Henan of China 3-0 (25-22, 32-30 and 25-22) late on Friday night.

Al Nasr bagged four points from two straight wins. In their first match Al Nasr beat hosts Asil of Kazakhstan 3-0 (25-15, 25-13 and 25-14) in a match dominated by the Al Nasr spikers from beginning to end without giving the hosts any chance to advance.

The Al Nasr spikers led by the two Algerian players Ali Garboo and Hesham Al Gamady showed a fine performance which led them to win both matches against Asil and Henan.

The Al Nasr coach Murad Sanoun was pleased with the win against the Chinese team after the players implemented his tactics in an excellent way.

Sanoun was not satisfied with the championships programme which made his team play three matches in three days.

Failed protest

"The organising committee were not fair when they pressed the programme without giving teams sufficient rest. We refused it but they insisted and we have to fight hard in the coming matches," the Al Nasr coach said.
