Newbury: One lucky race goer to Sunday's Dubai International Arabian Race Day will become the proud owner of a racehorse.
Monarch Thoroughbreds, a Thoroughbreds Horse Racing Organisation based in the United Kingdom and Dubai, are offering a share in a horse for a year, which will be trained and race in Dubai during the 2008-2009 UAE racing season.
The winner will also receive 10 per cent of any prize money won by the horse.
This innovative prize is one of many on offer during the 26th running of the DIARD at Newbury, which is set to attract over 16,000 fans.
Newbury racecourse, which has a runway for light aircraft in the middle of the course and its own railway station, is best know for hosting the Locking Stakes, one of the UK's 31 Group 1 races.
But it also rapidly developing a reputation as the headquarters for Purebred Arabian racing in the country, primarily though the staging of events like the DIARD.
Now in its 26th year the event is Purebred Arabian racing's most important day of the year in Europe and is often referred to as the Breeders' Cup for Arabians.
The seven-race programme, which features three Group 1 races and prize money over £100,000 will be backed by Emirates Airlines, NBD Hatta, Dubai Properties Zabeel, Jumeirah Hotels, the Jebel Ali Racing Club and the Emirates Breeders Association.
Beaufort Embryo Transfer, a South West England based company that specialises in equine embryo transfer operations, is also supporting the Dubai International Race Day by offering a free embryo transfer to the best performing British-bred mare in the NBD Hatta International Stakes.
