Abu Dhabi: Today's UAE President's Cup-Hydra Properties race at Newmarket - one of the United Kingdom's richest Group 1 event for purebred Arabians - has attracted a competitive field of 12 runners.
Al Mannsoub, owned by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, will join Qatari star Magadir, winner of the 2007 Qatar Derby and Omani raider, and UAE Arabian Derby winner Zoumir.
Richard Hills will be aboard Al Mannsoub while Tadgh O'Shea will partner Zoumir - the Julian Smart-trained Omani-based star which thrilled Abu Dhabi racegoers with a classy win in the UAE Arabian Derby.
Competent challenger
Quorman Des Vialettes is another competent challenger in the 12-horse race which is part of the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation's annual event here in Newmarket.
Dennis Batteate, the American trainer who is based in Suffolk, sends out a smart runner in Prince Dormant who finished fourth in the Group 2 Jumeirah International Stakes at Newbury.
Sultan Abdullah Al Marzouki, General Secretary of the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation, said: "This race has grown in stature with each passing year and we have some very fine horses in the filed for the race."
