Dubai: A golf tournament for the duty free industry is set to tee off.
More than 110 golfers are expected to take part in the 16th Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup which is taking place on the November 23 and 24 at the Four Seasons Golf Club and the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club respectively.
This year's tournament, which is open to representatives of the duty free industry only, has attracted over 70 international players from over 20 countries, with the remaining players coming from the UAE.
Colm McLoughlin, Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free, said: "When we started this tournament back in 1993, it was intended as a way of bringing the duty free industry people to Dubai for a couple of days of friendly competition.

"The tournament has grown tremendously over the years and we now have over 110 players participating from all over the world."
The international players have flown in from Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Ireland, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Netherlands.
On the social front, the golfers and guests will be entertained by acclaimed Irish artist, Sharon Shannon and her band, as well as the operatic trio Elysium at a private concert.
The tournament is taking place in the middle of a busy few weeks in terms of international sport in Dubai.
Prior to the tournament two tennis tournaments, the ITF Dubai Aviation Cup and the Legends Rock Dubai, are slated.
Sporting theme
The sporting theme continues in November with more international events.
The Dubai Rugby Sevens will take place from November 27 to 29.
It will be held at the newly-built stadium The Sevens and will feature all the top players from the sport.
All the top teams, including New Zealand, England and Australia, will be taking part in the three-day event.
Then the city will host the Offshore Powerboat Championship which will take place at DIMC on December 13.
