Dubai: The UAE's Saleh Al Marzouqi will be one of the nine football officials at the Beijing Olympic Games next month.

The Asian squad of referees and assistants, which has nine-members, are currently undergoing a fitness test in Tehran in preparation for their next assignment in Beijing.

The squad of match officials consists of three referees and six assistants and they will represent Asia in the men's Olympic football competition from August 6 to 21.

Al Marzouqi is one of six assistant referees selected.

Many of the officials are no strangers to the pressure of major international competitions as some are also in contention to officiate in the 2010 Fifa World Cup and officiated in the recent 2010 Fifa World Cup Asian qualifiers.

All the match officials will reach Beijing on July 31 for a pre-tournament seminar before the kick-off on August 7 between Australia and Serbia in Shanghai.

The football competition is the only discipline that is scheduled to start before the official opening of the Games on August 8.
