Dubai: The Professional League Association (PLA) appointed Yahia Abdul Karim to be the chairman of the tournaments committee for the first professional league which kicks off in September.
The PLA tournaments committee (TC) will be responsible for the four tournaments which will be held under the umbrella of the PLA: Super cup, Professional league, Professional clubs cup and Challenge cup for the under 21 professional clubs.
Abdul Karim will select six members to work with him in the TC. The first job for the committee will be making the schedule of the professional league starting on September 19. They will also prepare the fixtures of the professional clubs cup and the challenge cup for under 21.
The professional season will kick off with the Super cup match between league champions Al Shabab and President's cup winners Al Ahli on September 14.
Marketing chief
Meanwhile the PLA appointed Khalid Al Fahim as chairman of the PLA marketing committee, he will name the committee members in the coming days.
The PLA and marketing committee will hold meetings on July 16 at the FA premises in Abu Dhabi and Dubai with sport channels who wish to buy the rights to broadcast the professional league next season.
The match's referees for the professional league will be appointed by the Football Association (FA) referees committee.
A member will be representing the PLA in the FA referees committee. Also a member from the FA will be included in the PLA TC.
