Sharjah: Khatri Cricket Club has won the Rosy Blue Twenty20 Summer Cup after remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament.

In the final at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium they defeated Digicom Zahira Colombo by 20 runs through a spectacular batting display from Ayub Inayat.

Inayat hit 74 off just 44 balls with two fours and eight sixes coming in his innings. Three of his sixes sailed out of the stadium.

With Inayat's fireworks leading the way, Khatri posted a total of 155 and were able to bowl their opponents out with 10 balls remaining.

Victorious captain Safdar Khatri said the secret behind their success was not bringing in new players for the tournament.

He said: "We won mainly due to our excellent team combination.

"Most of the other teams in this tournament had guest players and they took time to adjust.

"Our team is made up of only registered players and having been playing together for the whole season and hence we had a winning combination.

"We reached five finals this season, won in Ajman City Tower and in Rosy Blue Summer Cup.

"We lost in the finals of Al Dhaid Village and AJ Invitation Cup. We are also in the final of Umm Al Quwain tournament which is yet to be completed," added the captain.

Colombo disappointed

It was a disappointing finish for Colombo who had lost only one match before reaching the final.

They chased Khatri's total through Nalaka's 53 and Indika Sampath's 37.

Khatri's Adnan, who took three wickets, bowled a tight length with Umair Salman Khan and Irfan Ansari taking two wickets each.

Salman Khan, who guided Khatri to the final through two unbeaten half centuries in the semifinals, won the player of the tournament award.

Colombo's Indika Sampath won the award for most sixes with 23 and the best batsman award.
