Abu Dhabi: The winning teams in the 17th Inter-Oil Badminton Tournament have picked up their trophies at a final prize giving ceremony.
ADCO and Zadco took the honours in the Group A and B team titles in the tournament which was hosted by the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC).
The ADCO team won the premier title last week when they stunned the undefeated Borouge 3-2 in the final showdown.
Zadco had it easier in their final with a 3-0 win in their match against ADGAS/ADNOC Dist.
The ADCO and Borouge Group A final was a close encounter that went right down to the wire.
Good start
ADCO started off on the right note when Jeena and Ajab beat Sijit and Supriyanti.
However Borouge's Sandeep and Sofwan got the better of Shiju and Mushtaq to restore parity.
ADCO's Shibu and Jose then defeated Vinod and Detry to give their team the advantage as they went into the final tie.
Jinu and Noushad of ADCO and Hrindkan Nair and Iwan of Borouge battled hard.
There was little to choose between the two pairings as they were neck and neck for much of the match.
Starting from 5-5, they were level almost right through until 22-22 before Jinu and Noushad came up with the extra bit to clinch the match.
Dominant
Zadco's 3-0 win over started with Azeez and Amelia in the mixed doubles. They beat Safialla and Chethama at 10 and 16.
Then Gregory and Babu confirmed ZADCO's supremacy by defeating Mathew and Ahajoy 21-17 and 21-9.
And then one of the UAE's top players, Mo'en, who was playing with Younis, finished off in style defeating Sudheer and George at 21-08 and 21-15.
Aqeel Madhi, CEO of NPCC, handed out the prizes.
