Ramallah: The Palestinian police chief in the West Bank said on Monday that Israel has agreed to send more Palestinian forces in Hebron.

Chief Hazem Atallah said that a date for the deployment has not been set. It is not clear how many forces will be deployed.
Downtown Hebron is under Israeli military control to protect several Jewish compounds in the area.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is trying to expand areas under its control. In recent months, Palestinian forces have taken up posts in Nablus and Jenin.
