Tehran: Iran's bazaar reopened on Monday after traders in the country protested a government plan to impose value-added tax (VAT).
The protest shut down shops and businesses in the country, forcing the government to announce a suspension of the tax plan to review it further.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has told the Finance Ministry to include traders in talks during the review process.
The head of Iran's taxation organisation, Ali Akbar Arabmazar, was quoted as saying that plans for VAT had been postponed following talks with Ahmadinejad.
"With the talks that we had with the president, it was decided to postpone it until further notice," Arabmazar told state-run TV.
