Tehran: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the next American leader must focus on America's domestic problems rather than look for "intervention" abroad.

Ahmadinejad was speaking in an interview with Japanese broadcaster NHK that was carried by the official IRNA news agency on Friday.

In the interview, the Iranian president said Tehran would welcome dialogue with the next US administration, provided that current US policies change.

Ahmadinejad said that the next US president must curtail American intervention abroad and change policy toward Iran.
