Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan will live forever in the hearts of Abu Dhabi residents.
Khalifa Saeed, a 23-year-old UAE national who works as an office assistant, said Shaikh Zayed's good deeds will always be remembered. "Shaikh Zayed, may God rest his soul, gave us everything we needed and more, he gave us love. He provided the country with everything; it's more than enough that he founded the Marriage Fund to encourage each and every one of us to get married and raise a family. He made us realise the values of the family." George Maher, 29, a medical representative from Egypt, said Shaikh Zayed did a lot for Arabs in the country. "He gave us work opportunities. He put the country on the world map and made it one of the best countries economically, but at the same time he preserved Arabian culture. "I also think he'll be remembered for encouraging scientists and artists. He planted the seed of love and good in all of us, that's a part of his legacy." Julia Ayoubi, a 20-year-old Syrian student who was born and has lived all her life in the UAE, said Shaikh Zayed gave people unlimited kindness. "He never preferred one person over another; all people were equal to him, whether UAE nationals or not. He was really our father. He made his people feel special. Till today I can't believe that he's gone, I feel he is watching over us all the time." Badr Ahmad, 23, a UAE student, said words alone cannot describe the love and support Shaikh Zayed gave to his country. "He used to say those who don't have a past don't have a present. Thanks to him, our heritage will live forever. He built the country financially, economically and culturally. We are forever grateful to him." Ahfaz Rahman, a 28-year-old IT professional from Pakistan, said Shaikh Zayed gave a lot without asking. "He will always be remembered as the man who transformed the desert into a paradise." Nivine Kamel, 30, from Egypt working as a sales-rental agent, said the greatest gift from Shaikh Zayed was letting expatriates work and benefit from the country.
