The UAE National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), has announced that they were responsible for the unexpected and unseasonable rain that fell in parts of Abu Dhabi and Dubai on Tuesday. Apparently it is all a continuation of the cloud seeding experiments that have been ongoing for the past seven years, in collaboration with experts from the US and South Africa, where pioneering efforts have been made over the years.

The purpose of seeding clouds is to increase rainfall in the area, in the hope it will replenish the natural water resources, which have become considerably depleted over successive years, due to the rapid increase in population, with all their consequent requirements. As part of the ongoing need to conserve water, a precious commodity in this country, it is encouraging to know that the government is embracing all technologies in an attempt to improve the nation's reserves.
