Girls, do you have spare time? Want to gain some experience? Here's your chance. What could be better than working for the industry you probably enjoy spending time in the most – retail.
Dubai Festival Centre, a shopping and food centre, is searching for candidates for the launch of the first shopping centre teen programme in the region.
The Festival Centre Teen Board is a youth-oriented, volunteer programme providing an opportunity for young women between the ages of 13 and 18 to work with the centre to produce fashion shows, create special events and participate in community service programmes.
The programme will be conducted at the centre's Retail Marketing Department. Students will be required to make a time commitment of about four to six hours each month to attend Teen Board meetings and events.
The criteria
- Applicants must be females between the ages of 13 and 18.
- They should be personable, outgoing, and enjoy interacting with the public.
- Must attend at least two meetings per month. (Meetings are generally held during weekdays in the evening between 6 and 7pm.)
- Must be available for up to six hours of service per month for Festival Centre related activities and events.
How long is the programme?
The programme spans the 2008-09 academic year.
What kind of activities will the programme involve?
As a Teen Board member you will have the opportunity to:
- Participate in Festival Centre's fashion shows.
- Attend meetings on various topics related to the retail industry.
- Learn basic modelling techniques as well as make-up application and fashion coordination.
- Gain behind-the-scenes and hands-on experience conducting the centre's events.
- Learn techniques in presenting yourself and working with the public.
- Help raise funds for local area charities and community programmes.
How many candidates will be selected? Do I have to pay? Will I be paid?
Ten volunteers will be selected for the programme. There is no fee or any financial obligation in this programme. There will be no financial compensation either.
When is the application deadline?
The deadline for applications is May 15 and interviews will be conducted through June.
