Ras Al Khaimah: An Indian security guard at a car agency has been stabbed to death. The police recovered the body from the agency's security room.
The 34-year-old victim, Mohammad Hussain, had several stab wounds on various parts of his body and his throat was partially slit.
Relatives and friends of the victim said from the nature of the attack it looked as if someone wanted to exact revenge on the victim by trying to smash his head, but did not succeed.
Sources claimed the guard had been stabbed at least four times in the neck and four times in the chest, and there were various other marks on other parts of his body.
It was determined that theft was most likely not the motive behind the murder as nothing was reported to have gone missing from the car agency's office.
Blood was splattered all over the place and there were indications that the victim had resisted his assailant.
Lieutenant Colonel Salem Sultan Al Darmaki, who heads the Investigation Section at the police Criminal Investigation Department, said the control room received a report from a colleague of the victim, stating that he found the victim's body lying in the security room of the car agency office.
Lt Col Al Darmaki said police teams arrived at the scene of the crime, along with ambulances. The medics pronounced the victim dead on the spot.
He stressed that an investigation team had been formed to solve the case and arrest the murderer. But so far there has not been much headway.
A forensic expert also arrived at the scene and was instructed to conduct an autopsy on the body to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Lt Col Al Darmaki also said that the crime was committed with a knife which was later seized by the police.
According to friends and colleagues of the murdered security guard, the victim had gone missing a couple of days prior to the crime.
Sources said the last time the victim was seen was on the day just before Eid Al Fitr. Thereafter, there was no trace of him.
In fact, the worried family members and friends of the slain security guard had launched a search for him and had even reported his disappearance to the police.
The police also started looking for him, without any success though.
Bloodshed: Brawl turns fatal
A fight over a mobile phone became fatal when a Pakistani man killed his friend, an Indian national, by smashing his head with a wooden stick, police said on Sunday. The incident occurred on Wednesday night.
Police said both men were workers who were absconding.
Police have arrested the accused who admitted to have committed the murder because he claimed the victim had verbally abused him.
The case has been referred to Public Prosecution for further investigation.
"The victim used to work in a company in Abu Dhabi, but he absconded from his sponsor and he came to Sharjah," police said.
Police added that the murderer was also absconding from his sponsor and was working illegally in Sharjah.
Police told Gulf News that a group of drunken men were enjoying their time at a building under construction in the Al Musallah area in Sharjah, when the Indian victim took away the mobile phone of the killer and refused to return it.
The outraged killer insisted on getting his phone back immediately, but the victim refused to hand it back to him.
"The men were then engaged in a brawl, when the accused used a wooden stick to severely beat up the victim on the head," police said.
Police said the Indian national died on the spot.
"The contractor at the building under construction, where the crime occurred, went to the site on Thursday morning to find the body of the victim," police said.
Police added that the contractor then informed the police about the dead body lying in the building.
