Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police on Sunday announced the launch of the Minister of Interior Award for Best Policeman and Best Police Station to encourage excellence and spur competition for better performance.
Making the announcement, Acting Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police HQ, Major General Mohammad Al Awadi Al Menhali, said the award has been approved by Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior.
Participation by police stations is mandatory and police officers with at least two years of service may individually compete to meet the best standards, according to Al Menhali.
The award which will be held annually also aims to boost Abu Dhabi Police's chances of winning the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance.
The four criteria to determine the winning police station are leadership, execution of policies and strategies, operations and results, while the winning police officer will be determined depending on compliance with three criteria: performance, innovative initiatives and oversight skills.
