Abu Dhabi: A twenty-year-old Emirati was killed in a horrific traffic accident on Thursday, police said.
The young man was exiting from the Abu Dhabi Equestrian club in the Al Mushrif area when his car rammed into the pavement besides the roundabout in front of the club, killing him instantly.
The incident that happened at around three in the morning is being attributed to over speeding by the traffic officials.
Colonel Hamad Adil Al Shamsi, the Director of the Department of Traffic and patrol police, said the Emirati was over speeding and was driving carelessly. The accident has also caused material damages, he said.
In another accident that occurred on Thursday morning, twenty people have been left injured. The accident took place in the Raha area between two buses at 7am. The drivers of both the buses suffered serious injuries while the passengers incurred minor to medium injuries.
"Over taking in a wrong manner is what caused the accident," Al Shamsi said. The injured were taken by the paramedics to the Al Rahba Hospital.
On Tuesday, a 39-year-old Indian woman was run over by a car in the Salam Street. The woman suffered serious injuries.
