Dubai: The Red Crescent Authority (RCA) is doing its bit to ensure that long-distance travellers on the country's roads and highways don't have to forego their iftar meals.

Red Crescent volunteers have been handing out 3,000 iftar meals each day since the beginning of Ramadan to them.

The mini-iftar packages will be distributed on the bus fleet of the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport. The RCA's vehicles will also help dispense the meals.

Petrol stations on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai, Abu Dhabi-Al Ain and Abu Dhabi-Al Sala highways are also being used as distribution points for the scheme.

According to Sultan Mohammad Al Shehi, Director of the Hifz Al Ne Ma project, which means to say "keeping Allah's grace", the plan is to distribute a total of 90,000 iftar meals by the end of the month.

This will ensure drivers do not miss iftar.
