Abu Dhabi: A three-day exhibition on alternative healthcare that opened here yesterday offers a range of natural cures from different parts of the world.
The Arab Natural Conference at the Abu Dhabi Beach Rotana Hotel features about 100 booths.
The conference presenting holistic alternatives to enhance users' physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual well-being.
Many of the exhibiters at the show that presents products ranging from soy milk to electro magnetic therapy are from abroad, who have been attracted by the growing market for natural food and medicines in the region.
Replenisher
Joshua Silver, chief executive officer of US-based Pulsed Energy Technologies, is in the UAE for the first time displaying pulsed energy replenisher.
If not for a set of tubes sticking out, the $26,000 (Dh95,420) machine looks more like a high-end suitcase. But Silver has developed a cutting-edge technology that generates electromagnetic waves to "recharge the cells".
The machine generates vibrations that he said energises the body cells. The device is operated by holding the tubes to the aching areas on the body.
An avid user of the energiser is basketball superstar Shaquille O'Niel. Silver said the replenisher is used on racehorses to help them perform better. "Because this is my first time in the UAE, it's hard to see how people will react to the whole natural movement. By the way, things are picking up across the world, we expect to see good results," Silver said.
'Open society'
Silver's product is a non-invasive one like many other products exhibited.
"From what I know about the UAE, it is a very open society and willing to give alternative natural products a chance. The fact that we are here speaks very loudly of that," Silver says.
The conference is presented by the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi and the Zayed Complex for Herbal Research and Traditional Medicines. Many exhibiters were handing out sample products and offering discounted rates for the guests. The conference ends on Thursday.
