Paris: The UAE and France stressed their support for the Doha agreement and hoped that all Lebanese parties would honour it in the interest of Lebanon and its citizens.

The statement was made on Wenesday by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and French President Nicolas Sarkozy, during a press conference in Paris on Wednesday.

Regional situation

The two leaders discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest with a focus on the Middle East issue and ways to achieve justice, freedom and equality among the region's people.

Shaikh Mohammad highlighted the crucial role played by France in achieving a just peace to help peoples of the region enjoy security and peaceful co-existence.

They also discussed the historic bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in political, military and economic fields.

Shaikh Mohammad said that his visit to France truly emphasises the deep-rooted ties and cooperation between the UAE and France, and is the fruit of such distinguished relations.
