Dubai: The starting fare for taxis booked via the telephone or online will be increased from Dh4 to Dh6 during the day and from Dh4.50 to Dh7 during the night. The increase in the base fare will be effective from Saturday, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Tuesday, confirming a Gulf News report published on Monday. The decision was taken at the Board of Directors meeting chaired by Mattar Mohammad Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA. The driver will be paid Dh2 for making a trip for a taxi booked via the telephone or online as well as a commission of 90 fils to Dh1.05 for those drivers who meet the 30 to 35 per month monthly target. There will be no change in per kilometre charges and for the starting fares of taxis hailed on the road.
