Ras Al Khaimah: Police have re-imposed the heavy vehicle ban during rush hour in the south of the emirate.
The police move came following daily complaints from families in Al Munaei and Al Huwailat that these trucks posed a threat to schoolchildren.
Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Al Braiki, who heads the Police Patrols Section, said: "The ban on the movement of heavy vehicles during rush hour was put in place once again in the emirate's southern areas to meet the daily requests of the families there."
RAK Police had earlier lifted the ban to enable heavy vehicles to move freely around-the-clock as an initial experiment. Families intensified their calls to reinforce the ban after a heavy vehicle hit a school bus.
