Ras Al Khaimah: The Traffic Court here held a deceased Bangladesh national partially responsible for the accident in which he died and ordered an Indian driver to pay half the blood money (Dh100,000) to the victim's family.
A senior court official said the court found that the victim who did not pay attention to the traffic flow when he crossed the street was 50 per cent responsible for the accident.
The court concluded that the accident was a joint mistake by the Bangladesh victim and the Indian driver.
The court official explained that the 35-year-old victim identified as N.H was crossing the street in Al Rafae area here without paying any attention when the speeding 30-year-old Indian driver identified as A.S. knocked him down.
Investigation
The victim died on the spot and the emirate's police initiated an investigation into the accident.
The police questioned witnesses at the accident site and found out that both the driver and the victim were responsible for the accident.
The court also sentenced the Indian driver to a month in jail and ordered him to pay a Dh200 fine.
