Al Ain: A female driver was killed and her three children were injured in a road accident in the desert town of Suwaihan, 75km west of Al Ain city.
The three children, ages 3 to 11, have been admitted to Tawam Hospital. They sustained moderate to severe injuries but, according to the hospital sources, their lives are out of danger.
The 38-year-old European woman was driving a Toyota Corolla, said the traffic police. The accident occurred on Sunday at about 3.30pm.
The police said the car apparently went out of control and overturned. "At this point, we are not sure what went wrong with the car," said a police officer, adding that they were investigating the cause of the accident.
The car was badly damaged and all the occupants were trapped inside. The driver sustained severe injures and died on the way to hospital.
Rashid Ali Al Sa'adi, Director of Public Relations at Tawam Hospital, said the woman was the daughter of a nurse working at the hospital.
The injured children, he said, were first taken to Al Ain Hospital but later transferred to the Tawam Hospital.
