Here's an opportunity to experience traditional evening celebrations.
Arabian Adventures has joined with the cultural organisation Sahary Gate to offer a unique insight into the mystique of the Holy Month of Ramadan, with traditional celebrations in the heart of historic Dubai.
The Ahlan Ramadan tours take place three times a week until October 22 at the Sahary Gate house in Bastakiya, the area of winding alleyways and original windtower buildings which remains a legacy of Dubai's traditional past amid its rapid modern development.
The tours begin with a short introduction to the meaning of Ramadan before the traditional breaking of the fast with dates when the sun goes down.
After the call to prayer is heard, guests are invited to an Arabic buffet served on the Sahary Gate terrace.
During the meal they will be able to mingle with volunteers from various Middle East countries, who will share their Ramadan experiences. The experience will be enhanced by Arabic calligraphy, henna hand painting, and displays of traditional bread making and handicrafts.
The tours, on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday from 5pm to 8pm, cost Dh280 per adult and Dh140 for children between 5 and 12 years of age. There's no charge for children under the age of 5. The cost includes coach transfers to and from Sahary Gate, and Arabian Adventures' guide service.
