Council backing for President's speech

President His Highness Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan received the Federal National Council's reply to his opening speech made at the inauguration of the third legislative chapter of the Council in November last year. The reply was handed over by the Speaker of the Federal National Council Taryam Omran Taryam at a meeting with Shaikh Zayed. Taryam said after meeting with President expressed his appreciation of the great political efforts exerted by the Council recently to patch up differences and eliminate obstacles endangering the Federation's drive.

New science faculty

The proposed engineering faculty of the Al Ain University will be patterned on the lines of the Georgia University, US. Abdullah Omran Taryam, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports has already had discussions with the Georgia University authorities on the setting up of this new faculty.

Iran's leading Minister resigns

Iranian Foreign Minister Karim Sanjabi has resigned and his resignation has been accepted by the government, a member of his household said. Dr Sanjabl was the first Minister to be named for the Cabinet of Iranian Prime Minister, Mehdi Bazargan after the February revolution which toppled the Shah.

Zoeller stumps all by taking Masters title

With his victory in the first sudden-death play-off in the history of the Masters golf championship, burly Fuzzy Zoeller has disproved the old saying that no one can win the first year they play the famous Augusta National Course. Zoeller, 27, thought he was out of the running until Ed Sneed, who had played so well throughout, inexplicably collapsed over the last three holes in the final round.
