Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has paid tribute to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, praising his vision for progress in every walk of life in the UAE.
In a statement made on the occasion of the 36th National Day anniversary and published by Dir Al Watan magazine, Shaikh Mohammad praised Shaikh Khalifa's comprehensive vision.
"Glorious days never fade from nations and people's memories. Those days tell of the efforts made by sincere and resolute leaders who believed in their destiny and shouldered responsibility to serve their homeland, to achieve their people's aspirations and to give the world an example of a vibrant and modern nation rising from sands of the arid desert," Shaikh Mohammad said.
Hurdles
"The federation of trucial states and the subsequent creation of the UAE represented a major turning point in the history of the Arabian Gulf in particular and the Middle East in general, following a fierce struggle fuelled by the unwavering determination of Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates and their insistence to build a nation that emulates advanced countries." Shaikh Mohammad noted that time was not the only hurdle faced in the giant step of nation building.
"Making available educated and experienced citizens in the different fields was yet another challenge. It was necessary to develop a two-way strategy, one focusing on comprehensive development and the other on investing in human resources."
