Beirut: Lebanon's Hezbollah group has said that the Winograd report has caused Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to lose more credibility and gain more problems.
Hezbollah MP Hussain Haj Hassan said the report will put more pressure on Olmert and "make him lose the two per cent of credibility left with his people."
The Winograd Committee report on the 2006 war in Lebanon has categorically blamed the Israel Defence Forces for failing on the war, criticising nearly every arm and unit.
Senior Hezbollah officer Shaikh Hassan Ezzeddine said the report "confirmed the inability of the Israeli political and military leadership to take the appropriate decision to confront Hezbollah during the summer war."
Retired judge Eliyahu Winograd, speaking on Wednesday after the report was released, said that the war in Lebanon was a "major and serious missed opportunity.”
"Israel embarked on a long war, which it initiated, and which ended without Israel achieving a clear military victory," judge Winograd said.
Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, said he would review the report and issue his response in the coming days.
