Israel continued air strikes in Gaza on Sunday, hurting several people, according to Palestinian doctors.

Israel said it attacked buildings used by Hamas militants and the Popular Resistance Committees in Gaza city and Beit Hanoun.

More than 100 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli air strikes and incursions since the kidnapping of Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit, by Palestinian militants just over a month ago.

The attacks in Gaza, which have killed more civilians than militants, have been overshadowed by Israel?s bombardment on Lebanon, according to BBC correspondents.

BBC reporter, Lucy Williamson said that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has been sounding very upbeat about the possibility of a ceasefire in Gaza.

On Sunday, he condemned the deadly Israeli raid on the Lebanese village of Qana which killed over 60 people as a "crime" and urged the UN to oversee an immediate ceasefire.
