Occupied Jerusalem: Israeli tanks reentered the Gaza Strip early on Saturday morning a day after ending a bloody incursion which killed as many as 30 Palestinians over three days. Also on Saturday the Israeli army announced it had attacked a site on the Gaza-Egypt border where they alleged militants had been tunneling. Palestinian officials said that power had been wiped out in the nearby city of Rafah as a result. The Israeli army announced that it had also hit a metal workshop, wounding nine people. The army said that the metal factory was a weapons store house. Israel's offensive on Gaza began more than a month ago after the capture of an Israeli soldier, Corporal Gilad Shalit. Palestine said they would release the soldier, who was captured in a cross border skirmish, if children and long-serving Palestinian prisoners in Israel were released.
