Faisalabad: It was his debut Test match and conditions were hardly what he would have liked to start off. Yet, Indian pacer Rudra Pratap Singh picked 4 for 89 and believes it is his dream debut. Gulf News: Was it a tough debut for you since conditions really did not assist the bowlers? RP Singh: The conditions here are pretty similar to those back home. However, it was a different feeling playing against Pakistan. Did you expect to make your debut here? It has been my dream to make my debut against Pakistan, but frankly I never expected to be in the team. Although I was in the team for the Tests against Sri Lanka, I did not get a chance then. So I was not expecting to play here too.
Were you nervous? Yes. I was a little nervous and I did feel the pressure as I ran in to bowl. Fortunately for me, all the seniors kept coming and talking to me and I slowly began to feel comfortable. How did their feedback increase your confidence? I knew that they wouldn't be talking to me unless they have seen something in me. It turned out be great and I got four wickets on Test debut and that too against Pakistan. When you came in for some punishment, how did you tackle it? My seniors suggested that I must consider it as bowling in a one day game and stick to the off stump. When I began to concentrate on a good line, the pressure on me eased to a great extent.
