Abu Dhabi: The UAE has strongly denounced the attack that claimed the life of Jibran Tueni, Lebanese lawmaker and journalist, as a heinous crime.

Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Information and Culture, said the UAE condemns the cowardly, criminal act, which has not only targeted a prominent Lebanese journalist, but is part of a series of crimes that began with the assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri.

"Such crimes are aimed at destabilising Lebanon and disturbing its security," Shaikh Abdullah said.

Shaikh Abdullah offered condolences to the families of Tueni and other victims.
