Dubai: UAE-based humanitarian organisations and activists expressed concern for Palestinians in West Bank and Gaza, on the brink of what the United Nations described as an "extremely bleak humanitarian situation". "When a population, that depends largely on humanitarian aid faces a suspension of international funding, the first to suffer are the people who need medical help and the children," CEO of Dubai Humanitarian and Aid City, Barbara Castek, told Gulf News. "The international community has to work towards a just resolution of the Palestinian issue through peaceful, non-violent means, which will guarantee the Palestinians their human and political rights."
Other members of the humanitarian community in the UAE have been equally vocal about their concern for the situation, including the welfare charity, Children's Hope Foundation. "The current situation ? is another example of people becoming the victims of politics," said Jane Shaw. "The Palestinian government has urged Arabs and friendly nations to provide aid and [we] can only hope that they will continue to rise to the occasion."
