One of the perks of climbing Everest is the refreshing stop along the way - including talking to Tibetan nuns - says Everest Peace Project team leader Lance Trumbull as his team makes a stopover at the Rongbuk Monastery.

April 21:

We walked from our base camp to the Rongbuk Monastery; it is about a six-mile hike each way and about a five-hour round trip.

It was a gorgeous clear day, hardly a cloud in the sky; sunny without any real wind. It still gets really cold once the sun sets but we are quite thankful for the weather today and we hope it continues.

The Rongbuk Monastery is seen as a very holy and spiritual place by the Tibetans and I could not help but feel a little bit in awe, especially with the spectacular view of Everest on the horizon.

I also had the opportunity to show off my Toughbook laptop to two of the nuns at the monastery; they enjoyed looking at the images.

Everyone is healthy and we are looking forward to moving up to advanced base camp in a few days.
