Dubai: The trainer of Honour Devil, winner of the UAE Derby, is "dead keen" on racing his horses in the US.
"I have been having problems with visas for my horses. I am dead keen on racing them there, but it looks like we will have to wait for some time," De Kock stated.
Saturday's win handed South African trainer De Kock his fourth UAE Derby win. "We work with them daily and it is the tough ones who always survive," de Kock stated.
The race was close and it was Honour Devil coming alive on the bend with a sudden burst that left the rest of the field lagging behind.
"He does have a fine turn of foot and he broke very well tonight," de Kock observed.
"He has got the speed and he is such a tough horse once he gets going," he added.
Given his performance, the trainer is now quite keen to have Honour Devil racing in the US.
"We have seen him in Dubai and he has proved himself elsewhere too. Now we need to see how he fares in the US," de Kock stated.
Great horses
De Kock had two runners in the UAE Derby - Royal Vintage being the other one. "Both of them are great horses, but Honour Devil proved what he is capable of tonight," de Kock stated.
"I don't mind keeping Royal Vintage behind for some time, but Honour Devil looks like a horse meant for bigger things... he has to travel...anyway we love to travel," de Kock stated.
"The confidence in the horse has always been there ... it's about giving him a chance now," he added.
